Yeah, I had the Fusion prototype and the fretless (walnut/ebony/purpleheart) fusion-body that you saw, then the mesquite fretless fusion with the rosewood fingerboard and Delano Xtender pickup (ordered in '14, arrived early '15), and "Richard the Test Bass" that Scott sent while I waited on the mesquite fretless to be built.

After the initial 6 months with the Fusion prototype (volume + varitone) and 8 years with my original fretless (2 pickup + 2 volume, no tone knob), I found that what I wanted was "more centrally placed single pickup, volume knob, no tone control."

If I really need a tone knob, I have an old BBox Scott made me in 2007. Other than that, I use the amp. "Richard" gets most of the fretted playtime.

The wood has some wear&tear on it now after 2.5 years of constant playing, but yeah - it's gorgeous. Thanks much!

I actually got to see a Birdsong in the flesh(wood) this past week..I was at an open mic and a guy pulled one out of its case..I immediately recognized the headstock before even seeing the body..It was a beautiful Corto bass in walnut..The guy who owned it was very cool and even let me hold\fondle it(thanks Paul) it was soooo light and sooooo well built and sounded great !!..which really induced the GAS pains and anticipation waiting for mine..

NICE SCORE !!!..I really like the sound of that DiMarzio pup..almost makes me want to swap the bridge humbucker on my Sadhana to one of those model 1's..almost..I really want the sonic recipe that Scott originally cooked up from the beginning but, that model 1 is very tempting..lol..Enjoy !!!

I am also tempted by the new model.

For what it's worth, Scott has an "introductory price" currently on the website. Down from $2195 to $1995, so a chance to save some money.

Also, this picture with the new model next to the Gibson shows just how far in the necks on Birdsong's go. That "neck" pickup on the new model is closer to a middle position in comparison to the Gibson. Should result in a nice, less muddy tone. I'm very tempted by this one as it would be the perfect compliment in both sound and appearance to my upcoming CBass.

But I do now play a 23" scale marleaux Consat sopran (in standard rather than piccolo tuning) that once belonged to said orange man (who officially has the coolest tb name because his given name is Julius), so as sad as I was to see the birdsong go, my arthritic hands can still gig.

OC seems to have a few of these. I Considered buying his Sadhana before deciding to wait for Scott's sale. I was a little spooked over the stone inlays someone added to the back until I found out he had Scott install them. Someone got a nice deal.

Ahhhhh... that Marleaux... should've never parted with her... she is a beauty... hope she's treating you well!!

That Eaglet is awesome! Not sure why I even put her up in the classifieds... out of all the Birdsong we have... she's the second easiest and second most fun to play!! Next to my daughter's "baby"... the Rat Rod... which is the best player by a mile!!

I should ask for a number I guess... as a current owner of an Eaglet, Shortbass, Rat Rod among others...

P.s. Should've never sold the Sadhana... great bass... maybe I'll try to atone for that by getting a PB-one... or C1, or how about a custom PB-two or PB-three?

I am so tempted to ask him about a double pickup version of the PB-one, I think it would be awesome. But seeing as this managed to sneak it's way home over the weekend, I am tapped out for now....
