Birthday: Ibanez Rickenbacker COPY!!!

So I strung her up with flats last night for band practice and MAN did I nail the tone on this sucker. My band loves the sound!

The only problem is the neck is bowed horribly - I'm sure the hi-tension Roto 77 flats I used aren't helping much - anyone know some really good low-tension flatwounds that would work well? I heard Chromes are a good choice...

Also, it seems the truss-rod is "stuck" i tried turning her last night when I got home and she won't budge...am I screwed here?

I have Chrome flats on my P-bass and fretless J-bass. Love 'em.

As far as the trussie goes, I've heard dudes talk about a drop of sewing machine oil loosening it up, but I haven't done so myself.

Maybe try searching or posting in the Luthier's Corner forum...

GHS precision flats are pretty low tension. I would take it to a pro to set it up. Forewarn him / her of the problem.

It is a 1975 Electra Corsair in excellent condition. This one appears to be a very similar model to mine... Here is a cut sheet from a 1977 Electra catalog I found online...

Well, they were both made in the same Japanese factory... the "legendary" Matsumoku factory... so it is probably an Ibanez, but just made in the same place. See here for more info: http://www.rivercityamps.com/electrapage/comments.php?y=07&m=10&entry=entry071008-035736

To answer your question on the pickup, it's not broken, you just need to rebuild the pickup so that the spring is between the pickup mount and the body of the bass... what happens is some people don't realize this and either put it in wrong (under the pickup or not at all) —*often times people don't realize how it's made and so they try to adjust it too far and they end up backing the mounting/adjustment screw so much that the spring comes off and floats in the cavity...

I think that's more likely to have come from Fuji Gen - the full width sparkly inlays are something I've never seen on a Mat. Whoever made it, it's a beautiful looking bass in great condition. :)

This is a page dedicated to the history of Electra (where I found info on my Ric-Copy, which is an Electra)... this is what I was referring to (sorry I think I sent the wrong link before)

We were simply wondering whether his bass was an Electra with a different truss rod cover -or- whether it was made in the same factory as my Electra, and just given a different "brand name"....

I've actually had to date this by the cosmetic changes between the early to late years of this model bass - as the neckplate has NO serial - just "Made in Japan". No serials anywhere on this bass actually. Weird.

Sure will post some as soon as the b**** battery of my camera is recharged (haha). Anyway, i just teceived perfectly fitting set of screws to restore my bridge. Although the action has ended, this guy might want to send. (it's not commercial and he also offers complete sets of screws for pickguard etc etc. They are offered for the orginal thing but work fine on the copy.

Ebay article no 160351630974. look for ended actions,
