bit off a noob question

i have a hartke ha2500 bass head and it doesnt have a pre- amp clip i no what 1 is im not that dumb i havent had any problems with feedback but can u get seperate pre-amps clip boxes or something its just im gunna start using it for gigs and if other bass players from diffrent bands wanna use it for there set i wanna no it not gunna be damaged by being played to load

I think you should learn a bit more about your amp, and terms related to amplification. What you're saying really makes no sense. I assumed you were talking about compression until I looked up your amp, which apparently has a built-in compressor.

If the sound out of the cabinet is making farting sounds or sounds wildly distorted, turn the bass frequencies down and lower the master volume. If you are worried about others using your gear, don't let them. It's your gear and you have a right to say "no".

I would suggest working on your spelling and grammar when posting here. Many of the people here will not answer your questions if you keep writing the way you are. As for me, I will help anyone because everyone deserves respect - some more than others though.

I think I get him. You mean a clip indicator telling you when the pre-amp clips right? Or maybe not?

You are correct.The 2500 doesn't have a clipping light, nor should you need one. I used one for a few years until I traded up to a 3500, which I used as my main amp for over ten years and still use fairly regularly.

How do you keep your preamp from clipping? Well, in this case, you should run your main volume very high. I usually have mine between 3 o'clock and all the way. A power amp should be run fairly well cranked. That's what it's intended to do. Next, you should start bringing up the pre (or pre's if you want to mix the two different sounds) until you're at a volume you like. The Hartke preamp tends to clip out with fairly aggressive playing before you hit noon on the knobs, but if you have your main volume high, you're really not going to be up past...say 9 o'clock before you have decent volume.
