Bit strips: Dear sweet LORD please stop

Are you guys really seeing so many of them that theyve become annyoing?
I may see 1 to 4 of them a week, tops. There are far more annoying aspects to Facebook than BitStrips.

Yeah, I haven't seen too many of them. I actually just saw my first a few days ago.

These aren't meant to be knee slappers, or profoundly amusing pictures. They are just mildly entertaining comics. Their novelty lies in the fact that you don't normally see comics of people you know. If people abuse it, and make too many, then of course that's going to be annoying, but that's not BitStrips' fault, it's your friends' fault for spamming FB with (let's call these memes?).

I made a few of them. A couple of scenes happened to be relevant to inside jokes between my significant other and I, so I thought it would be funny to post them. The app runs ridiculously slow for me, and uses a lot of memory. I don't know if that's an issue on my end, or theirs, but I would hope that if other people have the same problem, it will deter them from posting too many.

I'd be fine if it were simply 1-4 a week (like when it started), but this thing has gone viral so now every 3-4 posts is a bitstrip practically. On my feed, anyhow.

I think it might have to do with a BitStrip mobile app being released.
Before you had to actually be on your computer to post them.
I have seen more than usual, but still not enough to annoy me.

The ones my friends post usually amuse me.

I haven't seen one of these and am curious about them. I always take the philosophy of, "If you don't like the content people repeatedly post, remove them."

I've probably trimmed 50 friends this year and 50 the year before that. No more hyper-exaggerated political comments, fake quotes, lulz photos, or various cries for attention on my news feed.

Of course I have 0 friends now.

So THAT'S what those abominations are called. So far this is the only one I like:

Fake quotes? You mean like how both George Carlin and Bill Cosby have practically become the modern day Plato and Socrates over a bazillion quotes attributed to them that they've never actually said?

Pretty much. Or attributing some modern 13 year old's maxim about love to Shakespeare, packaging the latest inspirational hoop-a-loop to MLK or Ghandi, fabricating a line from one's favorite forfather to make a political point, etc.

I do like the joke ones... until someone is so stupid they believe those as well. Then I'm just really sad. The same goes for Onion articles.

Yeah, my feed is starting to get inundated with these things and they are annoying. I think it's because, ultimately, they are usually inside jokes. The problem is that 99.9% of the people on your friends list aren't in on the joke.

Thanks for the link, Tasty. I'll be putting it to use. :p
