BITE custom basses from Austria

While doing some browsing and clicking, I came across this new firm through an article:

Does anyone know anything about them? It looks like they're a new startup company or anyway very young, I couldn't find any threads about them.

I'm not bothered on the custom art options on bodies, but I like some of their concepts, like their universal routing for neatly moving/swapping the front pickup with a simple change of pickguard, something I've previously thought of myself as well.

Aesthetically speaking, I'm not a fan of their headstock, which seems to be one of the few non-customisable things, surprisingly.

I guess they're definitely sourcing most of their materials from bulk suppliers and put things together, it's not hand-crafted luther stuff... As long as the raw material is HQ and everything is done right, I'm not arguing that. But I really know nothing about them.

The price asked is quite reasonable as long as the finished product has a build and setup quality at least comparable to, say, MIA Pro Fender offerings or similar, taking into account the brand and resellable value factors.

The vagueness about their hi-output pickups is a bit strange though... Might be a neodymium build or something alike, there are not millions of elements at play in a passive design.

All things considered, they really need to prove they're not reinventing the wheel and bring something which does say quality to the table, given the competition... For one, I'm not really interested in those body art finishes, nor I think will be the majority of players.

Yes, some visual features are rather cheesy, hopefully those pickup covers are swappable...

Gotta love this, though...
Features a symmetrical waist and a BITE 1000 mV split coil pickup, one coil in charge of E and A, the other one of D and G.

Most bassists use the pickup as a thumb rest when finger picking. The D/G coil in its standard position easily gets in the way of the picking fingers. Toss the D/G coil over to the other side of the E/A coil and your fingers finally enjoy a free run.

Now add into the equation crossed legs while rehearsing at your desk and there you have it: complete anarchy about ergonomical advantages or disadvantages of an offset waist. The general upshot is that this whole seated playing thing is about individual preferences and an offset waist just adds a sporty touch to the body and that's that.

Besides the name and the ugly headstock, I like the idea of a universal pickup route for the neck pickup.

They don't do fivers, but, unlike sevenender, they do do reverse P pickups.

i actually like the headstock, but without that horrid logo.......so many manufacturers using that same fender shape
