Black Velvet riff. Why is this so hard?

That doesnt look quite right to me. I always thought it was something like this. TBH I never played it this way. I do the same riff but play the Lower E's an octave higher. It actually sounds cool and flows better that way IMO

Just a question.
If you can play the OPEN E string, why are you playing the note E on A string?

If you cannot play that OPEN E string, then, I would play the last triplet on the E string - on the 10th and 7th frets:

I just like it better than the original. I know I to play it correctly, I just think the higher E with the slides sounds smoother. Just my preference

I used to have a Yamaha BBT500 amp for a short time that could cop that exact same squishy compressed bass sound. I used to always think of that tune when I heard it. Never got around to learning it until I read this thread. Yep, @newwavefrank's notation is correct. I've got a hipshot, so I played it in both keys. FWIW, I think it sounds better in Eb.

I would play it slightly different.

There is one riff in Allanah Myles "Black Velvet" that just twists me in knots. New band has added it and I can't seem to wrap my head or hands around it. It's the fourth bar and starts after the second note. It repeats several times. Any suggestions?
