Argh. This is so crappy. I just got a call from my boss saying I've been fired. I don't even know why. He said don't come in to work today, or anymore. I have to go in today and pick up my last check before 4 pm or its gone. What really sucks alot about this is i have a 800$ bass rig to pay off, a drumkit to pay off, and numerous bass purchases still needing payed off. 400$ is due at the end of the month and I don't have it. So more or less, the kit, and the rig are being repo'd in about 13 or so days. I'm so damn pissed off.

To top it off, my dad might have cancer. god Damn what a GREAT week!

Getting fired sucks, but I think we all do it from time to time. :) or at least once. the rough part is holding onto the faith that a more fulfilling, better paying job is right around the corner. My experience is that if you believe it, then it's absolutely true.

Hope your dad is OK. I know the feeling when crap seems to pile upon crap. Everything might be just fine with that though.

I wasn't 'performing up to standards' yet i set most of those standards.

Its working on a farm BTW, i work there year round, so its not just summer employment.

I really hope my dad is ok. They do know what it is, they think it could become cancerous. He's got surgery in 3 weeks, and since he found out, hes been really grumpy and short about everything. he yelled at me for not going outside when its foggy its so hot.

I don't know where you live at but in Cali and I think the US in general, you are entitled to that last check and they cannot "require" you to get it today or they keep it. It is your $$$ you worked for it.

As for a reason, if you ask nicely he may give it to you, it may hurt but knowing why could help you in the future...........Keep the faith bro!!!!!

He told me why when i called back. I wasn't working up to the standards i had set and all. which is weird becuase I was one of the better employees there ( and i'm not just saying that to feel good)

I have to pick up my check in a certain amount of time becuase i was working on a farm and the government grant proposal system he had used requires all laid off employees to collect there last check within 6 hours of job loss or the money goes back to the government. stupid canadian government

That must suck big time. Don't know how things in the US are, but have you checked it's not illegal to fire someone on that short basis, or to demand you to come and get your last payment the same day?

Have the farm owners told you before that your performance wasn't satisfactory and asked you to improve before firing you? If not, I think they made rash and unfair decision. As an employee, it's not always easy to know if you're performing well in other people's eyes....

no they gave me a raise and said i'm doing great.

im really really annoyed and angry. They kept saying i was a great employee and then i get fired. argh

I kinda get the feeling that there were some personal issues involved, either in the way that some other worker told bad things about you to your boss or then that you talked bad about your boss behind his back and he found out that. But I might be totally wrong too...
