blend pot troubles

so... i recently had the aguilar obp-3 preamp installed in my bass, and everything is working fine, excpet the blend pot!! I can only use one pickup at a time, and when the pot is centered there is no output!!

i am using a 500k audio blend pot. and a 500k volume pot.

do i need a differnet blend pot??

:crying:please help

hmmmm... i dont have an ohm meter. and im not sure what "in phase with eachother" means. (frustrated)

but... both the pickups worked fine before. they are both SD basslines aaj-1 pickups.

If they worked fine before, it probably isn't a phase issue then, because you wouldn't have changed the polarity of the pickups.

In either case, you could try switching the hot and ground leads of one of the pickups and see if that does anything. (Be sure that if there are any shields attached to the pickup that they remain grounded.)

oh, and im not sure if this will help with a diagnosis, but the blend pot also seems to be behaving like a volume pot.

for example, if tunred slightly off center towards the neck pickup, the volume of the pickup increasingly gets louder untill turned "blended" all the way towards the neck pickup. same for the bridge pickup, turning it the opposite way of the center

your blend pot could be a mirror-image layout, in which case dead center kills both pickups. try reversing the hot and ground connections of the blend pot itself.
