Double Bass blending mag pup with realist

Hi Guys,
just started playing with a rockabilly band not stupid loud but having a few issues with feedback, i have been using a realist with a bluegrass / folk trio which works great, but there is a very finite point at which the realist starts to feedback when playing at louder volumes so i was thinking maybe adding a schaller mag pup and having the ability to blend the 2 using a dual chanel pre amp.
Anyone tried ths or other pickup recomendations?

If your amp has a loop, try a parametric EQ in the loop to notch out the hot spots. That should be of use even if you decide to try another pickup.

I picked up a schaller, love it. As others have said, it makes your upright sound like a fretless p (not a bad thing imo, compared to the piezo sound i was getting). More earthy/woody tones than a slab IMO, and still seems to retain most of it's upright identity. Very little to no feedback untill you get really, really stupid loud. I have been playing with a Jazz/reggae/world group and it sounds fantastic in the mix. Picked mine up on the bay for around $90. Never tried blending, as the sounds it makes are suitable for what I do. You will probably have to adjust the screw/pole heights to get a balanced sound between strings, and IIRC some strings don't work with the pickup. Dadarrio hybrids do.

I'm interested in an answer to the OP's original question. I have a Realist and a Pierre Josephs magnetic pickup on my bass and would like to experiment with blending them.
