Blown speaker help PLEASE!

Hey I have a Peavey 35 Watt, 16.7v RMS 8 OHMS guitar amp I have been useing for my bass (actualy sounds pretty good. lol Recently one of my roomates kids ramed something in the pack and tore the speaker to hell so I need to replace it. I have been thinking I have a 12 inch sub the same size as the speaker that is in there. Is there a difference? Can I just put it in there? Thanks for the help in advance. Play on brothers.

can't throw any random speaker in there and expect it to work since the cabinet is designed around the speaker.

How about contacting Peavey's customer service and seeing about getting a direct replacement?
