I saw a very old (since closed) thread about this, but I thought I'd bring it up since I just got this today and need a break from messing with it.
Backstory: I've been wanting a 5 for a while and was checking around for one in the sub-$500 range on a bunch of sites, including amazon, and when I saw a G&L tribute L2500, in only one color/fingerboard option in my $0-500 search results with a "price too low to show" next to it, I was shocked to see the price listed as $470. I didn't actually care for the color, though the maple fingerboard is what I was looking for and the price was right, so I bought it figuring either amazon made a horrible error, or I'd be getting something mostly broken and just have to return it.
Looking at this bass now, I'm not really sure which one it is.

The wood grain is barely perceptible at all. In dim lighting it looks basically black. I'd probably be heartbroken right now if I actually wanted a blueburst finish, or really even cared what color it was, but I can't help but be extremely puzzled by the whole thing, more so by the fact that the amazon price went back to "normal" right after I ordered this. Was this some amazon conspiracy to get rid of a lot of basses they know to be "off" (so far as I can tell, this bass hadn't been unpacked ever)? Is this the blueburst finish just like this, or is it just inconsistent?
I may not ever learn the answers to these questions. Body finish aside this a fantastic instrument, made more so by the stupid price I got it for. I would caution others, however, if you have your heart set on a blueburst G&L tribute, best to check it out locally or you may get what I got: transparent deep purple.
I think even SX is more consistent with colors than this. I ordered a pink guitar and I sure got a pink guitar.
