Double Bass Bluegrass Song Book??

I am interested in a bluegrass song book. Any ideas from anyone on a decent one?? Something that doesn't just show TABs, I want to learn more about reading music also. I looked up Peter Wernicks Bluegrass Book but doesn't include bass. And also Parking Lot Pickers; Bass edition, but from the reviews I don't think that's what I want. Its hard to find people to play with in my area and I end up stuck home playing along to videos online or just cds. We are also in the process of moving back to the mountains of NC in a few months so I want to be able to bring something to Jam sessions. Any help would be great.

I haven't seen anything specifically for bass, but I like this book. It has a lot of songs, and bluegrass aint rocket science for us bass players. Just follow the chords. No bass clef or tab, but you shouldn't need it.

A lot of these old songs you can find the lyrics and chords on-line for free. Just Google or check out sites such as:

SOme combination of root/fifth/walking between is all you need.

How about Mel Bay's 50 Tunes for Bass: Traditional, Old Time, Bluegrass & Celtic Solos Vol. 1.

Also check out this songbook which uses the Nashville Numbering System.

"The Upright Bass Primer" is actually 100% bluegrass. It uses both tab and standard notation. Runs you through a BIG number of bluegrass tunes that would be welcome in any jam. The best part is the included CD where you play with a group of pro bluegrassers from Atlanta. There is also an accompanying DVD available. This publisher also has a bluegrass song book that includes just about everything. Invalid Link Removed

Just buy the first three or so Album Band CDs and learn every song inside out.

Your need for a Bluegrass book will then have faded.

The Real Bluegrass FakeBook is not good.
IMO
Lots of mistakes and they've made the songs to complicated.
It's not the way BG should be learned. IMHO

Bluegrass real book as well.
