Blues Progressions and bass lines. The ones you should know.

I am interested in playing out more and would like to do a few blues jams. I know the 12 bar blues and a few bass lines. What should I know to take full advantage of a blues jam situation? Just the basics to get in the groove with seasoned musicians and do a good job of it.

OK you know the 12 bar progression --- most Blues jam session call out the key and from that you know the I-IV-V chords that will be used. Grab the progression and hang on. Roots to the beat will work, need more then the R-5 will fit. In my part of the woods that is enough.

If you have a drummer follow his kick drum. If not you are the beat master - good luck.
