Bluetooth Studio Monitors

Anybody have any recommendations? Don't need to get loud, I just need to hear every instrument in a track (established records, not mine).

These seem to be the Internets recommendation;

Why Bluetooth? If you’re after fidelity you’ll always be taking a loss by transmitting over Bluetooth.

I have the non-bluetooth version of the Eris 3.5, and they work great, Mushroo-approved! My one word of warning is, make sure you are aware of the frequency response and you are okay with an 80hz bottom end.

To address @silky smoove and @And I 's concern: I could be wrong, but I think the bluetooth is in addition to (not in place of) the standard TRS connectors. So @nonohmic wouldn't be sacrificing anything by getting the bluetooth model, only gaining an additional feature for more versatility. It's pure win.

Main reason is cause 3.5 mm jacks wear out on phones and iPad.

I don't plan to play through it, just listen to recordings on it. So latency shouldn't be an issue.

80 Hz is a pretty high bottom end. But don't think ill be listening to bass music on these..although I love bass music. But thanks for the heads up I might see what else is out there at the price point.

The rest sounds good tho! And yes you still get a jack input etc.

That said, I do practice my bass through the Eris 3.5's sometimes, through my audio interface, when I am sitting at my desk jamming along to YouTube. They're not earth-shaking for bass (your low notes won't hit you in the chest) but it works.

Speaker placement will make a huge difference in the perceived bass output, especially how far they are from walls and corners.

If you get the Eris E3.5's and decide you need more bass, you can always add the Eris Sub8 later on.

Sure, after a huge number of uses. I’d consider this a non-issue.

The bigger question would be why you’d plug a phone or tablet directly into studio monitors. That’s not a viable application without an interface, mixer or monitor controller in between. Fortunately this points to Bluetooth which was your original intention anyway.

Since you’ll be going in via Bluetooth and not monitoring tracking through these speakers I wouldn’t limit yourself to do monitors designed for studio use. That may be what you end up with but Bluetooth speakers of any type (standalone, hifi, studio monitor, Sonos, soundbars, PA systems, etc.) could all be viable and plenty of them sound excellent. Your number of choices is enormous.

Get what you like. It is your money. The latency and fidelity loss may not be enough to worry you. But it may be worth considering whether any pro studios use Bluetooth.

There's a more casual listening brand named "Edifier" I bought off the 'zon.

I do not use the BT nor did I see a need for the sub out (other models have that) but am really happy with them for listening to CDs and youchoob in a near-listening position - mine are the Edifier 1280DB, cost around a hoondo.

I liked the 4" woofer instead of the 3" so many of the smaller monitors have, and I like the dust screens and multi-ins, including optical.

FWIW, I record/monitor through Tannoy and Auratone, casual listen thru Klipsch with Yamaha subs (s), and I like these just fine.

I actually have that model of Edifier speaker in my office and I love them! But yeah no Bluetooth.

The audio jack on my galaxy s10 is screwed up and I don't want to buy a new phone, so just trying to get the same kinda quality but cordless.

I wasn't clear: I monitor on Tannoys and Auratones; they are not bluetooth, and likely not what ya want, being more or less pro studio monitors that are unpowered and definitely not BT (altho' if ya can get 'em cheap, so with a BT class D amp ...)

From what I see re Edifier, the current models are now almost all BT-equipped - I bought mine last summer, intentionally without (sound quality issues and who wants to hear police calls and baby monitors?).

They have balanced TRS inputs on the back, too and you're not planning to play through them using bluetooth, just listening to music.
I have Yamaha NX N500 that are very similar to the Yamaha H series monitor speakers, but with better tweeters and WLAN, Bluetooth and USB connections. These were quite expensive at introduction (800,-) but I've seen them for far less during the last year. Highly recommend them.

You can buy a Bluetooth adapter and plug it into any speaker. We do it at my rehearsal space with our QSC PA system. Takes 2 seconds and it sounds great.
