BMax-T Users, I need Help

Did you think it was really worth doing? What was shipping like, to and from there?

It's definitely worth doing. Shipping was around $14. It just makes it a much more useable and enjoyable experience, and in your case they could also check it out.

Have you checked that the Effects Loop normalling is OK.

Use a short jack-to-jack cable between Fx Send and Fx Return.

I just happened to check my effects loop for no reason at all, and I found something very odd:

First off, when I connected the effects in to the out, everything was fine, and my SS-Bmax is also fine with no cables connected to the effects loop.

Here's the strange thing: I decided to connect my Sansamp RBI through the effects loop (which sounds great in my Bmax-T loop). When I did then, the signal was cut to about 1/4. Now, I figured it was just the RBI being at a low setting, so I increased the volume, and the signal was very crackly (not distorted). Almost like a blown speaker???

I'm very puzzled about this, as the RBI sounds great in the Bmax-T. And the SS-Bmax, sounds great by itself. So I don't believe it's the RBI, or the Bmax? I'm thinking it's some sort of power issue. I have them both plugged into an APC. I've tried changing both units to a different outlet, and still the same thing?

Any ideas?

ps: I have tried changing the -20db switch in the RBI also, of course that only lessens the output, but I figured I'd give it a shot.

OK I finally got around to trying some new tubes in the preamp and it worked great, plenty of volume. However after a few minutes of playing the sound cut out again, long story short it turns out I have a problem with the socket. There are some cavities that are not gripping the pins of the tube tight enough. If I wiggle the tube or just rotate it ever so slightly it works fine. It looks like there are just two "fingers" gripping the pin in each hole. I do electrical repairs at work so I have some terminal tools at my disposal. I am going to try to tighten them up, if that won't work I guess I ned a new socket.

Anyone else ever have or hear of this problem? BTW I was able to duplicate the problem with 4 different tubes a GE, 2 Groove Tubes, and a Electro Harmonix so I am certain the problem lies with the socket/pins.
