Body binding or no?

I agree with micguy that there may be an unwelcome edge. Warmoth will do a contour with binding for an upcharge that looks nice and functions well in real life use. Additionally, I think body color choice has ALOT to do with whether binding is appropriate. IMO the teal color in the OP looks out of place with the blocked / bound neck. Adding binding to that color body with that neck would only add more distraction / confusion to the appearance.

Yeah, binding. Top side only.

Sharp corners and binding aren't a big deal at all if you don't try to force your wrist to bend 90 degrees as you rest your forearm on horizontally on the body. Keep a straight wrist and you'll never even notice the edge. Your wrist will thank you later.

Personally I think binding on the neck plus binding on the body is too much of a good thing. It looks like you are trying too hard. But also, nobody will notice except for you and other guitarists/bassists that happen to nerd out on specs like that.

I suggest NOT black body. Choose some other light color, with binding matching the neck, and a black pickguard to match the neck blocks. Not your original plan, but I think it would look great.

First of all, this is your bass so make it yours.

However, you’re looking for opinions, so here’s mine.
I’m not a fan of binding on necks and when I saw yours, I wondered why you didn’t go with black binding. Then you could have gone with roasted body with black binding and had one gorgeous bass.
You could still do a roasted body with cream binding and that might pull it together.

One other thing. If that neck is Warmoth they should be able to match the neck binding. If it’s not, I wouldn’t take a chance on matching it with anyone but the neck manufacturer.

What body? A slab with binding IMO is not comfortable. TBH any slab is not comfortable. Sorry Rick guys.

Curved top like Gibson works. I just got an aerodyne strat, top has a curve w/ binding, it's comfortable.

Old Ibanez. Sounds like you are familiar, at least a little. From what I can tell they were offered in 3-4 models from ‘80-‘83. I saw a used roadstar II in a GC one day and fell in love with the tuners. It took me 10 years to find someone selling 4 in-line not attached to an instrument. They are my favorite!
