Body finish: Returning from tinted back to natural?

Hello, I hope this is a right place for this kind of topic. Apologize if not...

Anybody have experience with this kind of finish? Would it be possible to remove it without taking too much from the surface in order to refinish in clear natural?

What finish is it? Have you got some pics? What kind of bass is it?

That’s probably a blue tint in the first layers of clear coat. I doubt G&L go through the effort of dyeing the body wood. You’ll need to remove the finish down to the sealer. The body will probably be natural under the blue candy clear. Sounds like you may have a hot date with some 80 grit. I wouldn’t try to get all the finish off assuming the grain fill and seal aren’t tinted. Get down to that part then smooth things with 120 and 220 grit and apply clear. The factory did a better job of sealing than most of us can do at home.
