Thanks! Have you tried that? Just curious.I wouldn't do that. An induction cooker can induce high currents into the coiled strings and anneal the steel.
Once the string steel is annealed, it'll just stretch and snap when you try and tune them to pitch.
Okay. You seem like you know what you are saying so not gonna do that but for someone who has no other option I think no problem is if you boil the water only, turn off the cooker ad put the strings inside. Should work pretty much the same.No, but induction cooktops use high frequency AC current to induce eddy currents into the the metal cooking vessel, that create heat. A coiled up guitar string will appear as a dead short circuit to this induced current.
Thanks for all! I'll just do it on an electric one.If you turn off the current before putting the strings in, it won't be an issue. They might even possibly be OK with the current on, but it depends on how much of a shield the pot bottom creates, but I don't think I would be inclined to try it.
