Yah, I've not really used the ones in basses I own. I recently got a '68 Coral (Danelectro) Deluxe Bass that has one. I shimmed the neck sufficiently and left the micro-tilt alone.
Well, one more item I can check off of my bucket list, as I now officially qualify to be a member of the Boner Bass Club!

Have no idea as they aren't made anymore. If one comes up on eBay/Reverb - pretty much whatever they are asking is what they are going for. I'd guess $100-$200. Same for the neck - never see them up for auction/sale but if you were to find one it will depend on what the seller is asking. There's no price-list to refer to. Anything from $100-$300 if I had to guess.
Valid point. Thankfully, I'm not trying to find them, which seems next to impossible from what I'm seeing when I search. I am considering selling them (I'm replacing the original neck and bridge on on a '92 P-Bass Plus) but I just don't have a very clear idea of what fair prices would be.

These items would definitely deserve a premium due to their rarity on their own. I don't know what that is, though.
Do what you want with your bass, but I'm sad to hear you're disassembling a Longhorn. Won't be worth much after you're done imho.
Why dontcha sell the Longhorn complete and get something closer to what you want? Or a cool parts bass?
Disassembling an intact, all original Longhorn was not my preference, but it turned out to be the most reasonable option for what I was trying to achieve. I specifically want a P-Bass body with a P/J configuration and extended upper horn, but I like a Jazz neck and string spacing at the bridge no greater than 18.5mm. I am not aware of any option for a Precision body with an upper horn that reaches the 11th fret other than the '89-'93 Precision Bass Plus.
I couldn't find a reasonable deal on just a Longhorn body, but I got a great deal on a complete Precision Plus. I already had a full 22 fret Jazz neck that I really like, and have a Schaller 3D-4 bridge. If I swap out the necks and bridges, I will have exactly what I was after. I just don't want to leave a few hundred dollars tied up in a neck and bridge that won't serve any purpose for me.
If someone happens to have a Longhorn body they are willing to sell, I would gladly buy it and sell my Precision Plus to someone who will keep it intact!
EDIT: In the alternative, if someone can identify an off-the-shelf option that gives me a Precision P/J with an extended upper horn, a Jazz profile neck, and narrow string spacing that doesn't cost more than $1k, I would buy that and sell the intact Longhorn.

That is Very Specific.
The neck on the Plus is Somewhere Between a P and a J, which is why I got her, natch!
Are you sure a J neck is even compatible with the Plus body? The raison d'être of the actual long horn was because all of the body dimensions are tweaked to accommodate 22 frets, so I'm thinking scale length would no longer be 34" with a J neck. I guess it would be shorter and then there goes your intonation.
Like I said, do what you want with your stuff, but I highly advise against ruining a perfectly good boner bass. (please don't!)
I have seen boner bodies on eBay, but they are quite rare.
EDIT: I know you said you have a 22-fret J neck, but I still have doubts about compatibility.
Please explain your doubts. Why wouldn't a 34" scale Fender full 22-fret Jazz neck NOT be compatible with a Precision body that was made for a 34" scale full 22-fret neck?
Again, modding an intact Longhorn isn't my preference. If you can point me to another option that would satisfy my specific needs, I'm open to suggestions.
OK, I'm no luthier, but I always thought the body on a longhorn was shorter than a regular P, like the distance from the bottom bout near the bridge to the neck bolts, in order to accommodate the longer 22 fret neck. In other words, the Plus's neck is longer than "normal."
So, I don't know what body that J neck was designed for, but if the dimensions work, than you should be all set. I assume you already held the neck up to the bass to see where the bolt holes and nut line up.

I will be searching for "horny" bass bodies, but I'm sure you already have.
If you find one, please let me know. I would be much happier leaving the bass I have intact and selling it to someone who would leave it all original.
Well, Ian got in my head and I can't bring myself to mod the Longhorn I bought a couple of weeks ago. So, I'm selling it and will keep looking for a Longhorn body for the build I want to do. I like the bass even more than I expected to (which was a lot!), but I can't deal with the string spacing. I have a 22-fret Jazz neck and Schaller 3D-4 bridge that I will put on a Longhorn body if I can ever find one for sale at a reasonable price.

just purchased what appears to be a midnight blue longhorn/boner. should get it in the mail next week. been lusting over these and looking for one in good condition for the right price for a while.

it wasn't listed with a case. a few dollars under 1070 shipped. not a steal considering it's pretty easy to find recent american standards for less than a grand.
