I've owned both- the Stingray is better suited to a traditional bright, in-your-face slap sound. The Bongo is much more mids-oriented. I actually like a middy, punchy slap tone, but if you prefer a more classic slap sound, go Stingray. JMHO.

I tried both and personally the extra humbucker in the neck position on some Rays and most Bongos (outside the HS models) gets in my way
you can get around it in time
but it was distracting to me
single Humbucker Stingray or Sterling or Bongo
