Bongo with maple neck??

For anyone who fancied one of these, they're now available for a limited period. I'm ordering a Classic Sabre in this configuration.

Mahogany body, cool blue burst trans finish, roasted figured maple neck with oil and wax finish - what more could you ask for? I'm stoked!!

They sure look good! Don't have the cash to get one right now though - I think I saw the order window closes some time in June. Might have to see what my local store gets in stock. A Big Al 4 SSS would be great in that finish!

They look killer, but too bad you can't specify which figuring you want on the neck (flame or birdseye). It's been said that figuring is "luck of the draw" for this offering. Pfffft. Ok, let me spend $2k and maybe get birdseye? Pass.

You do get figuring - either flame or Birdseye.

Last time I looked at an almost £2K bass it didn't have figuring of any sort or anything special other than a volume control and an (alleged) tone control and one pick up - the fancy colour and case etc ............. and the brand and model name apparently justified the price. It didn't sound too brilliant either perhaps generic and adequate! Needless to say I didn't buy. And thank goodness because I can now afford one of these and have placed an order for a Classic Sabre.

I suspect you may be over emphasising the complaint about not being able to pick what type of figuring on this particular edition compared with what the rest of the industry do.

Over emphasizing what? The 'you'll get what you get and you should be happy about it' attitude is a little snarky in my view. Like I said, I think this edition looks killer, but I refuse to gamble ("luck of the draw") for something I am partial to (Birdseye) and something I am not partial to (flame), especially if I'm ordering in advance and plunking down a sizable amount of cash. Absolutely effing ridiculous!!
