Bongo

2010 Ernie Ball Musicman Bongo 4 HH Black
2013 Ernie Ball Musicman Bongo 5 HH Candy Apple Red with new light weight tuning keys.
Sometimes people have reserved opinions on the shape of the Bongo when seen in photographs. But, as soon as they see it in person, then it's "that's a cool looking bass". Maybe until they hear it. Don't know.

I just got this bad boy this spring. Basically missed having a 4 string. This is a true Stealth- all black with an ebony fb. So far I like it, but people obsess about the look. Great slapping bass with many cool tones to dial in. I do miss the 5th string live, so this is just my fun bass I keep in my office for "down time".

Stealth owners, do you notice any difference in tone due to the ebony fingerboard? I'm sure it's a minor difference in sound, but the standard Bongo has a rosewood fingerboard.
I personally like to solo the bridge pickup. Has that Dave Larue sound.
IMO: I'm glad the 5 string has the light weight tuning keys because all the earlier ones I tried with the older tuning keys seemed to neck dive. I know the Sterling 5 neck dives big time. They should change to light weight tuners.

Had a 4HH in Sapphire Black; sold it to a TB brother. Loved everything about it except the color and the electronics, which were too hot for me and I didn't have the time/patience to really learn to use them.

I'd give a Bongo 5 a chance. Sky Blue / white pearloid, please.

Had the 4...got the 6...I don't really respect anyone's negative opinion unless they own it..., most people who do own it, understand, it's that good.

Well I've owned several Ernie Ball basses and L O V E D them. Sorta gassing for a StingRay Classic even. I just can't get passed the body shape of the Bongo. Hence, I will never own one. To each his own I guess!
