Book yourself or use a promoter?

Our BL has it down. He works part-time in ad sales for a local TV station, so when we get gigs booked, he approaches the venues and asks if they'd like to advertise on TV. He winds up making money on both the ad sale and the gig, AND our band gets promoted.

Friggin genius if you ask me.
 
Wish I had that kind of hook-up lol.... that would make things crazy easy lol.... our guitarist does side jobs for the HEAD manager of a radio station (really about 6 that share the same building) and for some reason we never hear about him talking to them to help us out.... FAILZ™

But other thing(s) to do, get a ReverbNation account... they have a gig finder... can post everything to FB, Myspace, Twitter, etc in one stop.... and have "press kits" you can assemble to help out the situations....
