Double Bass Boosting a Double Bass

I play both an electric and upright through my rig, but lose a lot of my volume when I switch over to my upright.

Would a pick-up booster (like Seymour-Duncan) work best to boost my output while maintaining tone and not creating lots of feedback?

Welcome to the dark side. Please fill out your profile, so we can help you better. You didn't specify what kind of pickup you are using now, but I suspect that may have something to do with your problem. Just for a point of reference, the Fishman Full Circle pickup that I'm using on my double bass (upright) has more output than any bass guitar I've ever played. If you have a weak signal from your pickup, it can be very hard to get a good amplified DB sound in my experience. If you still want to boost gain, I'd recommend the Fishman Pro EQ Platinum Bass, which can provide quite a bit of gain, plus it has other very useful tools. It's kind of a swiss army knife for amplifying the double bass. The Fishman Pro EQ Platinum Bass can also effectively add a 2nd input channel for double bass to many single-channel bass amps.
