Double Bass Borrowing a bass in Calgary, AB

Hey guys,

I'm having some serious flight issues and the bass that the Banff Festival offered to rent me is of questionable quality... I'm trying to see if I can borrow from someone but I don't know anyone in Calgary. I found the contact info for the Calgary Phil principal on the Univ of Calgary website so I sent him an email, but does anyone here have any suggestions as to how I can get in touch with anyone else in their section or anyone else in Calgary who may be able to help me out?

It's a crapshoot, but you may want to consider checking with Long & McQuade out there. I don't know what your setup/playing style is, but they may have something they can rent to you for a reasonable price. When I played the Calgary Jazz Festival a few years back, L&M provided the backline, and got me a decent double bass.

Hi Brayden, the Banff staff actually called up L&M and apparently the bass they decided on renting for me is somewhat better than the basses there... So do you think better than an L&M bass means that the bass they got me is alright to go with?

I'd really like to play the best instrument I can get, so borrowing from a Calgary Phil person or someone else in the city might be better than renting, but if anyone has any suggestions/advice, I'm open to it!
