Boss GT-10B pitch to MIDI???

I see that the new V bass system lets you use your bass as a midi controller for software synths via the USB port and the GK 3B pickup. I am wondering if you can do the same thing with the BOSS GT-10B. If so, will i be limited to using Roland software or can i use my bass to control sounds in Logic or Reason without latency?

As far as I'm aware, the GT-10 doesn't convert pitch to MIDI. It will only detect the pitch and trigger the internal oscillator at that pitch. The MIDI functions of the GT have to do with control functions (patch change, expression, and so on).

The new Roland system uses their normal pitch-to-midi process for outputting MIDI note information.

You need an instrument fitted with a hexaphonic pickup, like the Roland GK-3B, and a device to convert pitch and velocity to midi notes for each string simultaniously.
The GT-10B is only a multi effects unit which inputs an ordinary mono analog signal.
The GT-10B has USB to carry audio to/from the GT-10B, as well as midi control and system exclusive data.
I have used pitch to midi software on a computer, with softsynths, and used the GT-10 expression pedal to control the synth levels. And have the bass signal go out the USB to a laptop using pitch to midi, then into a softsynth, then back out the USB to the GT-10B.
It worked ...O.K..... but you are better off with some thing like this
