Boss GT-1B and Rumble 100

I’m new to playing bass until my friend had me look at his Mark Bass combo amp(it is cutting out when you dig in)he loaned me his P bass and I was hooked.So I went and bought a Ibanez SR400EQM and a Fender Rumble 100, I later bought a Boss GT-1B. I like the Boss and what it can offer,but at times it seems to overdrive the front end of the amp,I’ve tried to dial back the output and effects levels,but all I get is a lower/dialed back output,kinda wimpier version of the amp.Maybe I’m looking for a clean bass sound to add effects to.I recently swapped the speaker from the stock Chinese made Eminence to a Basslite s2012,it did clean up the notes quite a bit . Has anyone ran into this with the the Rumble and Boss GT-1b?

I would just run the output of the GT-1B into the effects return of the Rumble 100.

I was getting a little noise into the instrument input of my D800+. Switching to 'active' from passive pretty much took care of that. Also, the third knob on the BOSS adjusts the output level.
