Boss IR-200 Amp & IR

The thing I like about Roland/Boss, is they give you options. GT1000/Core isn’t super deep, but there’s a bit to it. Could be good if someone didn’t like the bells and whistles of the GT stuff. The IR 200 has dual channels, so you can mix and match amps ie X Drive Amp for the bottom, Concert Amp for the high end. It has parametric EQ also, so you can cut out frequencies you don’t want. Doesn’t have the Xover and HPF/LPF of the GT tho.

Although I have to say, that's a lot of pedal board space for jus three amp models. The GT-1000 Core is only a wee bit bigger but offers a massive amount of extra stuff.

It's a nice pedal for sure, with a few interesting features. It's just a bit big for only 3 bass amp models. These day's in the digital world...why aren't there a lot more?

They are the same three bass amp models in the GT1000/Core. They sound great. Nice seeing them in a stand alone box. Cheers.

Do the bass amp models of the IR200 sound exactly the same as the ones in the GT1000? Or did they add something? because the IR200 is newer and more specialized on amps and cabs. Anyone using the IR200 live?

I'm a newbie and don't own either the GT-1000 or the IR-200, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but...

There's nothing I could find about the IR-200 (or the new six-string-only IR-2) that indicates AIRD modelling like Boss has on the GT-1000 and GX-100. So, in my view, the models are not quite the same, even if they are labelled similarly in the effects list.

I suspect that the IR-200/IR-2 is using their older modelling technology (which I am not implying to be bad sounding or anything!) but did not want to advertise it or put "COSM" anywhere due to the bad stigma associated with that name.

Just got one of these a few days ago at a price I can resell and not lose money on. So far it looks like I'll keep it. Haven't loaded any custom irs on it yet but the amp models are much better than the ms60b I've been using for headphone practice. Pulled a tone out of my atk that I'd gotten in a studio yet couldn't replicate with my other gear.

Doesn't seem like a popular piece of kit here but I'm happy with it.
