Boss LMB3 vs. MIJ Nady/Guyatone PS-020 Limiter/Enhancer

So I own the Nady PS-020 Limiter/Enhancer...this is the MIJ in a Boss sized box, not the Guyatone stuff you see nowdays.

Anyhow, I've been using it for a limiter at low volumes with pretty good success with my GK 800RB thru an 8x10 and other Eden & GK amps.

I am wanting to go with a very high quality compressor eventually to use for guitar and bass.

But I know where there is a used Boss LMB3 I could trade for or buy for cheap but it would be a final sale.

Is the Boss better than my MIJ Nady/Guyatone limiter?

The fellow from Omnilabs recommends the Boss LMB3 (and I trust his reviews).

Like I said, eventually I will spring $200 or more for a top compressor but I need to sell some other gear first. Thanks in advance!

I didn't play the Boss, but I have had several of the "best" $200 compressors and I just kept an old Guyatone ps-010 compressor. I like it, was really cheap to buy, and does what I need a compressor for. I'd keep the Guyatone, just in case.

I looked at your profile and unfortunately can't tell if your basses are active. If they are active, I'd suggest skipping the LMB-3 as I found an active bass could overwhelm the LMB-3 with one distorted note creeping in every so often. Save the money and head straight to better compressorville.

I had the LMB-3 for a year and didn't like it. It seemed to suck the oomph out of my signal regardless of how it was set and the Enhance knob was pretty useless.

My Nady/Guyatone doesn't do anything 'that bad' from what I can tell...I have bought and sold nearly a dozen compressors thru the years.

Only one of my basses is active a 1997 Ibanez SR800.

The Nady/Guyatone is one I think I will keep as a backup....kind of like my Boss CS-3 which I can manage to find a useable spot with my 6 string guitars.
