Boss OC-2

Hey,

I've been wanting a Boss OC-2 for a while now and one showed up on my local kijiji. However, I noticed that it says "Octaver" on it instead of just "Octave" which I thought it was called. Is there a difference between these two pedals or is it just a labeling difference.

Thanks,

Derek

You've got a slightly older Japanese model. The later Taiwanese models are called 'Octave'.

Some people say the Japanese ones sound better. Other people say there's little or no difference. It seems that some Taiwanese OC-2s were made with Japanese circuit boards and/or parts, so that might cloud the issue.

I got two OC-2s recently (both Taiwanese) - I love 'em!

p.s. I've got two OC-2's, both made in Japan. My "Octaver" was made in 1983, and my "Octave" was made in 1986. There is some high-end loss in the older one (though, not heard in a band context). But I suppose, that can be due to it's age (it is recommended to change all the electrolytic capacitors in such old electronic devices). Tracking on both is pretty same.

Picked it up, sounds great! One problem, I don't want to rely on 9V batteries and it requires that or a ACA adapter. I hear that the solution is to power it through a pedal such as an LS-2 (which I have), I just can't seem to find a daisy chain with 2 ends to it. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
