Ok im looking for a octaver and this is the one im thinking of getting.(i dont want to spend heaps on it)
I was jst wondering if i was using this with my fender rumble 75 Would the lower octaves be to much for the 12" Speaker. Ive heard octavers can damage speakers is this true :confused: ? Thanks

Hey!
As far as octave pedals go, I'd recommend the search function on the forum here, there's plenty of shootouts, info and whatnot!
The OC-3 doesn't get much love here, and I can see why (I own three octave pedals, and neither of them is an OC-3).
Still, it's a personal preference. I'd rather go and get a used OC-2, you can still find them pretty cheap, and they're a bit more musical sounding.

And btw, your amp should be fine if you don't overdo the gain and volume settings on it. I've been using octave down, two octaves down, and all of the above with fuzz on it, and still no problems with my 12'' speaker! :D

And that's the main reason I like the OC3. It fills my needs perfectly, besides of that the "overdrive" mode, not being a tipical overdrive it colors the sound in way that I also like, specialy combined with other distortion pedal.

For example, I prefer the OC3 to the EBS Octabass, I find this one to "agressive".

Lot's of fun, it's not perfect in any of his functions but with some teaking you have really interesting settings. :)

I have tinkered around with the OC-3 and it sounds a good bit different from the OC-2. That said, I also have had a couple of different 90's/2000's-era OC-2 pedals and never was completely happy with either of them. I finally snagged an OC-2 from '86/'87 (made in Japan) and it sounds much better than the other OC-2's I had... it also seems to track better for some reason. I usually only use the first octave and maybe a touch of the 2nd, but I primarily rely on the 1st octave.

I have the OC-2 and you will not use an octave pedal producing a signal one octave or two octaves below the low register of your bass anyway. Maybe if you have 60" speakers and a nuclear 10000 watt amp. The only way to use it that make sense is if you play starting with the d-note and higher and this way it will only produce notes that your amp and speakers can reproduce anyway.

This is the reason I, personally, have moved away from octave down pedals to octave up (MicroPOG).
I play normally (ie. using lower register) and have an overdriven octave above blended into my sound.
