Here we go again, I have been searching for some interesting information here, but I chose to start a new thread instead. Enlighten me here, what mods do you guys end up with, and how does these two pedals end up like after the modding? I got the two of them cheap on theBay, and atm I am really not that impressed, so I guess it's either mod, or ship again. Thanks! D.Don
i like this mod. never have done it....but i like it. http://casperelectronics.com/finished-pieces/boss-ds-1/
A friend of mine had a DS-1 modded by Keeley, I believe, it sounded great for guitar through a '59 reissue Bassman. It reminded me of the DOD 250.
Ok, so I've modded an OS-2 for bass. What it really comes down to is a. Your choice of capacitors on the input b. A nice passive low pass filter thrown in. There is an equation(I don't have it right off the top of my head) to find the capacitance of the low pass filter needed to block high frequencies, but it ended up being something like 5 .05 microfarads in series. The Low pass can be implemented by taking this string of caps to ground before(or I suppose right after) the input resistor. This forms what is called an RC circuit, which can be used as a simple LPF. Ok, techinical jargon aside, its not hard. Here is the OS-2 I did, with the switch being the mode to go from bass playing to guitar(LPF active or bypassed). So I would be more than happy to help you with this project, just let me know. Here are some articles that may help http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low_pass_filter http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RC_circuit
hey BC......surprisingly i actually love my os-2....unmodded for some specific uses. i like that transparent, harsh, mid+high grit. how did the mod affect your unit? just kept the lows intact?
O I agree, I love the sound of the standard OS-2, which is why I put in the switch. It does do a better job at keeping the low end in tact. I'm still tweaking it a bit but for right now, I dig it
