BOSS WL-20 (or similar) as IEM system...??

Hi All,

interested to know thoughts here - my reasoning is....the Shure/Sennheiser-type systems for IEM wireless transmission etc are all very well....albeit expensive.

My thinking is, can a guitar-style wireless system be used as an IEM system? this would need to run in 'reverse' but would essentially be doing the same thing - transmitting a signal.

I've seen other cheaper 2.4ghz systems such as the Rowin WS-20 etc that actually have aux inputs on both the TX & RX units to allow IEM use...

anyone tried this? thoughts?
 
Looking to run this setup through a digital desk, where I'm naively thinking i could put a volume 'spike' filter on the IEM channel? would headphone cord-style volume controls work here?

Edit: but i agree, the Xvive system looks good too. We're looking to replace stage monitors in a medium-sized church setup, so having even a few people (vocals etc) receiving the same channel mix wouldn't be too bad - would be similar to sharing a stage foldback monitor i guess

Sorry to reply to this old thread, but I am on a mission to find the answer to this same question.

Specifically looking at this unit, as I am looking to be wireless from bass to amp, and wireless from mixer to headphones.

The reason I can see to use this module over others is the lower latency, 2.3ms. In theory in both directions this would only be an added 4.6ms of latency. I know that latency in these small increments is not noticeable in most situations, but I am also using a PC live with audio interface, adding more additional latency, using a combination of effects (all putting strain on pc to drive potential latency up) and also using jam origin midi guitar to trigger various instruments as well, which has it's own latency.

basically, the lower the latency added through wireless the better, and there doesn't seem to be much out there on the digital space of wireless headphone transmitters.
