Boston bass transcriptions

Does anyone know of a source for accurate bass transcriptions for the songs by the band Boston. I have found a few online but they are not accurate. I am considering the Hal Leonard bass collection Boston bass play-along book. Anyone have any experience working from this Hal Leonard book of Boston bass transcriptions and if so, did you find the transcriptions to be accurate?

September 1976 is when the band Boston hit the air waves out of no where! I just graduated high school. The sound of distorted dueling guitars and hyperspace pick drags was then totally new. Not bad for a first album created in a basement DYI studio with homemade special effects analog devices. I always wanted to play bass and in 2014 I went for it. Better late than never. Never thought I would reach the point where I could play those busy, fat, compressed Tom Scholz bass lines. I am having lots of fun learning/playing bass to Boston tunes!

Since accuracy remains at issue, I have posted below the first page of Hal Leonard's transcription of Smokin' and the first page of the free internet tab. You may compare and decide for yourself.

Thanks. I just got off the phone with Dave's Music Den at Sweetwater Sound here in town and they said that a Boston Bass Collection Book of Transcriptions just came in today! So, I will be picking it up after work in about 30 minutes.

The internet tab version of Smokin' is the only piece of sheet music I have ever seen that has a key signature using one sharp - and that one sharp is B sharp.

I do respect that we are all in different places on the same path seeking musical knowledge.

But when purchasing free internet tab, caveat emptor.

The Boston Band bass book of transcriptions really surprised me. Tom Scholz' bass lines are much more sophisticated than I had realized and the free transcriptions I have do not convey many of those subtle nuances. I am having to relearn the bass lines to fit the new bass recorded transcriptions.

You are right about the free transcriptions being reasonably accurate and they are indeed good enough to get you through a song. The audience generally doesn't know the difference concerning subtle variations in a bass line. Now, the big mistakes...yeah, they catch that...lol!
