Bought (2) replacement celestion 10's from Avatar

Sounds like these might be just the thing for an old Bassman 10 (4x10, 70 watts RMS) combo that could still "switch hit" between bass and guitar (and keys, namely my Rhodes).

If they're similar to the 10s in my older (1990) Trace 1028, they're not GREAT for bas, but the will handle it (to a degree). When I was using that cab by itself for practice, the sound with just my bass guitar was a bit anemic in the low end, but if I had on my QTron in LPF mode, it fattened right up. At least in that setting, I never managed to push them farther than they were willing to go (4 piece "rock" band).

What I don't see in that driver spec sheet is XLim unless it's "gap depth."

If the woofer has an 8mm Xlim, it's going to be fine for bass, just distorty. Hopefully its distortion modes sound good.

I've heard a few cabs with low xmax, high xlim for bass, and they can sound really, really good. Look at the SWR 12-stack cabs for an example...IIRC they're like 1mm xmax, 12mm xlim or something crazy like that

* I would recommend using at least 4 of them, if not 8, however. Putting these in a 2x10 would be dumb. Fs is also a little high for bass sadly.

I don't know what their distortion modes sound like but if that's the goal, considering it's highish fs, a beefy guitar driver might be a better tool for the job. Their low freq. capability might not be that much less than these. That said, if I didn't already have so much crap half-done, I'd snag a pair of these for little 110 vocal monitors, I'd think that's where they'd be put to the best use.
