Or you could get a Brubaker Brute MJX-5 for about $600, put some high end Pups and a pre in it and still come in under $1500 and have a unique killer and boutique sounding axe.

All that Carvin stuff looks tight. As does the Ibanez . I know I should be pragmatic and treat my bass choice as the tool it is but something in me is crying out for something off the beaten path--like my Ken Smith did so long ago thatIblewthatstudentloanmoneyonandnowi'mstillpayingforitohgodthatwassuchamistake.

Carvin's Bromberg signature model (B24/B25), Icon, and SB are all off the beaten path!

Did you mean Jazz or Jag. The VM Jazz are all Jazz pickups. The VM Jag has a humbucker option. OR, did you mean the Modern Player Jazz?

Oops! I mistyped! I have a Japanese Jag and a Modern Players Jazz with humbuckers and an added the18v preamp.

Considering the discount I get from work and solid reviews, and despite interest in Brubaker, Tom Clement, and Velliette-Citron, I'm kinda narrowing in on the Ibanez Premium SR1205E.
