Double Bass bowing harmonics 5th above tone played

Sometimes I hear people (mostly fusion type arco players) playing a bowed note with a 5th harmonic above it. It is almost as if this 5th is sounding together with the bowed note. I am not talking about the artificial or natural harmonics technique here. It has to do with purposely bowing more to the bridge side than you normally do. Now I can get an octave above with this technique. But I can't figure out how to get a 5th above.

If you place your bow at 1/6 of the speaking length of the string, it will emphasize the partial that's one octave plus a perfect fifth above the fundamental.

Place the bow at 1/12 the speaking length, and it will emphasize the partial that is TWO octaves plus a perfect fifth above the fundamental. And so on.

It may also help to reduce the bow pressure and increase the bow speed.

Thanks. I can get the octave and the second octave. But it is hard to get the 5th to sound clearly or to control the occurrence of 5th (instead of the octave).

Maybe it depends on the bass and bow as well as technique. I find that if I take a dozen or so practice strokes and get the bow placement, pressure, and speed just right, I can get a good strong fifth to sound. But I can't just walk up and do it from a "cold start".

I can get the 5th sometimes. But I don't know how to control it. Mostly I get the octave and if I am lucky the addition fifth
But that is totally random now. And I am not sure what I do different when it occurs.
