Bowing tool for beginners...

Does anyone know the name of the tool that clip on the bottom of the fingerboard to stop from bowing near the finger board? It's a tool for a beginner.

I don't know what it is called, but you can make something like it easily. Take a length of a guitar's low e string. Stick wine corks on both ends, and insert in top of f holes making an arch over the strings. Bow between the wire and the bridge. If you touch the wire, it will rattle a bit. Diana Gannett uses something like this for some students, but with a tightly wrapped spring instead of a guitar sting. Maybe it rattles louder.

Your eyes will do the job just fine, though.

A mirror helps too. But yes, I have heard of this cool clip thingy. And your teacher can put his/her finger at the end of the fingerboard and you slide the bow across the string and the finger, keeping it straight. Can't use that in concert very easily!
