Brand new

Not only to this forum, but to the bass world. After 20+ years of talking myself out of it, I have just purchased a starter bass and practice amp. I have never played an instrument in my life and have no ambition to play live or join a band. I am a complete music freak, and wanted to learn for the pure and simple joy of playing. I will be absorbing any and all pointers, tips, clues, tidbits, and other pieces of useful advice I can get my hands on. I bought a basic Washburn bass but my dream is a Thunderbird. In time...

So hi everybody and help a rookie out please!

I think you will find out fast that having no ambition to play live or join a band are the main reason most of us get into this.

When I was 11 I started playing bass because I loved Pop Music, I wanted to play in front of people andenjoy how much fun it is to be in a band, even with it's down sides.
