Double Bass Bridge adjusters on five-string bass

Hi all,

I'm thinking of getting bridge adjusters put in on my five-string. However I am concerned that the extra pressure of the fifth string may be too much for the adjusters.

The strings are Belcanto, and I would have my luthier do it. He's never put adjusters on a five string before which is another reason for me to ask here before going ahead.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

If they are installed properly and made of good material, there's no reason why you couldn't have adjusters on a five string. It's been done before.

Wayne Holmes put adjusters on my five string Shen 7/8 -I have Belcantos on that bass. So it can definitely be done

You might ask your luthier about installing bushings. They will add strength and also make them turn more smoothly.

Thanks for your feedback and advice. I've spoken to my luthier and he now also says it's no problem.
