I have a 100 yr old German bass fitted with a John Torma bridge. Over the years the action has surpassed the adjustable range and needs some work. I'm relatively new to the area. I need someone I can really trust to work on this vintage bridge in the DFW area. Can anyone help?

If you are in Dallas County (patooie!) go see bass luthier David Graham at Brook Mays 972-233-9633. If you are nearer Denton there is an excellent shop operated by the university.
Out here in Parker County we call on a priest ... or drive all the way to Denton or Dallas.

Its definitely worth the drive. Im heading down to Houston from Denton county to get my bass repaired.
I can take a look at it next week, might save you a trip to Houston. FYI I'm a bass player and a luthier.

take it to Cody- he's good people- a "vintage bridge" You might want to get the sound post looked at also- I am not just saying that to bring up a dead Texas horse- If I may read between the strings- your bass may need a complete set up, tune up.-
Sorry Cody- I know that you probably don't want to be associated with me anymore, but why in the h... would anybody suggest that a fellow stoolmate drive extra miles for bridge work, when anyone, like yourself, is right there.---I am glad that I am back -so I can add some d...common sense to some of this ....In my opinion! After trying to help the Dirtdog, I may not last very long this time, however.

I'm not at all offended that I wasn't mentioned. I'm still trying to get my name out there. To be honest, I haven't been with my company very long yet to establish a pro client base. It's hard to compete because our reputations are 110% word of mouth. Most pros stick with their favorite luthier for anything and everything and won't trust anyone else. It's an uphill battle, especially if you're not established in an area yet. I'm working on it! There are some very competent luthiers in my area, especially up at UNT. I wouldn't take offense if I'm not suggested in the same sentance as those guys..

Cody, I am a little surprised that I have not been banned again for good after my last post a couple of hours ago. Trust me you don't need TB to get business. I stay busy all the time with repairs and sells and as far as I know not one of my customers have found me from TB- Word of mouth-you got it, my friend.
Cody, my problem is just that the most simple repair costs me two four-hour round trips. Maybe that's my fault for living out here on the edge of the world. I'm not so loyal that I wouldn't take an instrument elsewhere, and I look forward to seeing you prosper.
But why do you guys all set up shop so far from home???
btw- We had a repair guy here for a little while, but his sign said "Luthifer" and I got cold chills just driving by ...
