I know this is zombie thread but just did a search and this suggestion worked for me. I'm the king of overdoing it.
I tightened each bridge mounting screw until it was just snug, stung it up, tuned to pitch them tightened up (just a little more then snug) each of the screws and the bridge stayed flat. This makes me feel SO much better and now I don't have to use a high mass bridge on this bass. Just recently realized that I don't care for the Kickass bridge on this bass. I am a big fan of that bridge on many other basses though.
