The impedance curve goes all to hell, it's possible that the impedance could go WAY below nominal.
Harkte HyDrive 112 has multiple voice coils but the didn't expose connections for separate amps.
Or you can do an isobaric - so it "looks" like one driver.
Don't do the silly cram another driver in the port shelf. That doesn't work and unfortunately often hyped around here.
Many of the new chips are doing Quad amps on chip. Most of these can be bridged, but for all 4 amps, there is bridging an parallel configuration. I expect many new powered-pa and combo configurations using dual voice coil drivers as it's an easy solution for standard off the shelf use of chip sets.

Or simply use the proper chip sets for the application.

I went the opposite route when I was young.
I had a cassette deck in my car that I reversed the connections on one of the heads and reversed one speaker phase. I then connected a 12" 15 ohm woofer across the 2 outputs.
I have no idea what it did for the impedance presented to the amps but it had the best bass sound around!
