Double Bass Bridge Qualty

Those of you who are knowledgable about the DB bridge:
a)How can you tell if a bridge is of top quality?
By the grain of the wood?
The grain is vertical or horizontal to the feet?
Tight grain?
What if you see no grain is that a good bridge?
Buy a bridge with a makers name? Can you advise on quality makers of bridges?
Steer clear of cheap imports? ('You get what you pay for')?

b) If the bridge is adjustable and the wheels are pretty high is it more inclined to topple over than a bridge with no adjusters?

Look forward to your answers. Many thanks.
