Bridging SCR-DI resistor to bypass -6dB line out pad?

I stumbled across this old thread while looking for a replacement volume pot for my SCR-DI. I had also noticed that the XLR out is noticeably hotter than the 1/4" line out, and this appears to be true per the manual as well.

My question is specifically related to this comment:

the jack output is so low my ampeg optocomp wont trigger. I have to raise the volume knob to 3 o'clock or above to get some useful input on the compressor. but this gives a very hot signal on the DI out and adds a little distortion i don't like.
More people have complained about this when driving a power amp for instance.

I hope bridging the 1k R72 resistor on the line-out will remove the 6dB pad ampeg is talking about in the documentation. although that's a bit of a guess, it seems logical to me a series resistor is just to lower the output. read something about increasing impedance with a series resistor.
i'm seriously thinking about just bypassing it with a drop of solder and see what happens, although i'm a bit scared to do so, don't want to destroy it.

The quoted commenter later goes on to say that this mod worked. As someone who is relatively handy with a soldering iron, but quite new to DIY pedals/mods, I'm hoping someone would be kind enough to take a look at the schematic and explain if the pad is simply just a 1kOhm R.

If it is, I might as well mod it while I'm in there...

I had someone else take a look at the schematic and this is what they came up with:

"The wording in the manual is not quite proper in that case. There is, as far as I can see, no 6dB padding on the unbalanced out, but rather 6dB "gain" on the balanced XLR out. To create the balanced signal, it is fed through two opamps, one in a non-inverting and the other in an inverting configuration. If you connect this to a proper input, it will respond to the signal difference between these two lines, which is now double of the initial signal, which roughly corresponds to +6dB (~1.995). Therefore you can't simply remove the 6dB padding for the unbalanced out."

So if the mods need to take this down, I have updated the other thread as well
