Bright 100-150W amp?

I'm a novice player of 2 years, and I don't have an amp.
Yes, 2 years and still without an amp. Up to this point I thought I was doing fine playing through garage band, which pretty much gives
me the tone I like through a wide range of effects.
However, while messing around with a p bass at a music store this summer I realized how important a good amp is. They had that huge amp (probably like 200+ W) I fell in love with the sound.

I don't know virtually anything about bass gear. I'm really into Duff McKagan style pick bass
and want a bright sounding 100-150 W amp. What can you suggest?
Also, is there much difference between 10" and 12" speakers?
What do you think about Gallien-Krueger combo amps?
Thanks in advance :)

You are looking for a combo? I would check out the GK line.

FWIW I dont think 200 watts is "big" for a bass amp. I would never try to gig with anything less than ~350 watts or so and two 12's.

YMMV
Thanks for your response. Yeah I was considering the GK combos. Is it possible to do occasional drumless gigs with 150 watts?
