Dunlop flats were also very good but a tad darker. They actually sounded surprisingly similar for strings that feel very different

Bright and thumpy

You might be happy with Rotosound solo bass pressure wounds. They are a little different than ghs. Rotos definitely have thump especially when they settle in. The swing bass steels really do. Sit silencers might do it too. Ken Smith compressors maybe. I don't know much about tapes or flats but compression wound is supposed to be a middle ground that has some elements of rounds but smoother and thumpy like flats. I have a fretless bass that I'm probably going to try pressure wounds on to see how they are since I'm not satisfied with my usual steel roundwound set up on this particular bass.
