Broken Rickenbacker Copy Treble Knob

So what had happened was this: I was practicing at my work desk when I get interrupted to actually do some work (lulz) and as I was putting my bass away, I the bridge treble knob got caught on the lip of the desk because I hear a snap and lo and behold the knob’s come off!

I’ve attached pics to give an idea of what’s happened, but basically it looks like the housing of the knob is what’s broken off (there’s a pic with the actual housing and it almost looks like the previous owner must have broken this at one point because it looks like old glue on the inside) with the main attachment still surrounding the pot itself and is still functional.

Basically, my question is what steps should I take to repair this? I could do it myself but im not sure if I should glue it back on there, and if I were to just get a replacement, would I just be able to fit it over the piece that’s still surrounding the pot or would I need to take the cover off and try and get that piece off?
