After buying a P15, I saw Broughton had a SV-Pre pedal. How does the SV-PRE sound vs the P15?
Yes I saw that they emulate different Ampeg amps, I was just thinking if the SV-pre can cop a tube sound, and it's in a smaller form factor, and cheaper too, maybe it was an overall better choice for gigging?
However, I'm assuming that the P15, being tube driven, sounds better. So far I really like the tone I'm getting from it. But, if the SV-pre sounded anywhere close to actual tube tone, it would make for a practical alternative for a gigging muscian.
Alternative? Nobody here is looking for practical alternatives. lol
There's no reason you can't (and shouldn't) have and use both. The SVPre running into the P15 is a great sound. I set the P15 as my base sound, and use the SVPre as a light overdrive and/or mid-boost for when a more rockin sound is appropriate.
