Broughton Audio Super Thread

My usual go to method if it’s bad weather and can’t smoke outside is
Dry rub. Whatever you like. 30 ingredients but my favorites are thyme rosemary garlic mustard powder. I like turmeric as well for its anti arthritic properties and color. Salt and pepper naturally.
Cast iron pan. Medium heat. With some bacon grease or butter. Till done or even well done. Brown them up significantly.
Transfer to broiler 400+ degrees. Flip a few times. Here’s your CRISPY wings. The heat will turn the skin and body crispy 100% edible (except the little knuckle joint) and separate the meat from the bone for that nice pull.

Will the Omnicomp cause mass compressor extinction?
IMG_2356.jpg
Finally got the chance to try the Omnicomp today! :bassist:

I was able to compare / contrast it with the Cali76 Compact Compressor, Empress Bass Compressor, and the OmniFx Smoothie Opto Compressor.

I agree with what others have said about the Omnicomp -- adds a nice warm presence to the mix. Used it with the Super Stack as well as the Fliptop.

Each of these compressors can be dialed into sounding somewhat similar with one another and yet they each have their unique tone footprint. You really can't go wrong with any of them.

I was kinda blown away by adding the Smoothie near the end-of-the-chain along with the Omnicomp near the start-of-the-chain. The Smoothie really added some nice enhancing headroom -- nearly stereo-like. Good stuff.

FWIW, I think I'll be using the Omnicomp more with the Fender/Alembic F2B tone stack (Super Stack) and the Cali76 with the B15 tone stack (Fliptop).

'Twas a fun afternoon!

Will the Omnicomp cause mass compressor extinction?

LOL... no. There are too many good compressors, and too many different tone goals for that to happen. Having said that, my Omnicomp got its second gig today, and I like what it brings to the table. It provides a subtle tone fattening while remaining somewhat (but not totally) transparent, and does not seem to affect dynamic playing in a negative way. I also find that I can play with a much lighter and less tense touch - really good for promoting good technique and lessening fatigue.

Let me know if anyone is wanting to get rid of their cali76

Maybe. Actually probably. But first I am going to to try (likely unsuccessfully) to use it as trade bait, in conjunction with a number of other pedals, many of them Broughton. I have some very specific Broughton "wants", though my guess is that I'll likely end up selling as opposed to trading. But who can tell?

There was some tradebait offered in the thread. The mods, however, are...inevitable.

Ohhhh. Ok thanks. Thems the rules if you’re not a contributing member. I’ve been reprimanded a few times.

Im always in a position to trade Broughton unobtanium. PM me. However full disclosure I’m getting down to the nitty gritty. Although It’s an easy and difficult place to be in for various reasons at the same time.
